Getting Started

COMPASS is a customized SharePoint environment contained in Office 365. It can be navigated to in multiple ways depending on your user category (Internal DOT Staff, Consultants, Contractors, Stakeholders).

Consultant, Contractor, and Stakeholder Staff

External staff must use their external O365 accounts must navigate directly to a project site. The link is contained in an invitation email received from the DOT.


Municipalities have a unique way to access pre-approved documents that are hosted by the DOT in Office 365. Clicking the below link will allow a user to request access to the Bureau of Engineering and Construction's Municipalities group providing access to documents and a webpage with navigation links.

Request Access:

1 Enter your email address to log-in.

2 Fill out the information as requested.

3 Click Submit

4 After a period and your access request have been reviewed you will receive an email like the one pictured. Click Get Started.

5 Click Accept

6 You will now be prompted to setup Multfi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Click Next.

7 You may choose whichever additional authentication method you prefer. Text message is shown as an example.

8 Enter verification code received on your phone and click Verify.

9 Click Done.

10 You can close this window.

Once the steps above are completed for a user account, the following link will become accessible. This can be saved as a bookmark or found here as needed.

Internal DOT Staff

The Microsoft Online sign-in page is located at, or can be find by internet searching for “Office 365 log-in.” Internal DOT staff can navigate directly to the COMPASS landing page using the link or by searching Office 365 directly for the SharePoint site "Projects".

Many issues encountered with initial signin are resolved by attempting to use an Incognito/InPrivate browsing session:
